As you can see in the blog the backpack has the ability to produce smoke. Here’s how it was made to do so.
First things you need are smoke-pellets. You can get them in many DIY stores. These ones produce about 45 seconds of white (grey-ish) smoke. For about 2 minutes of smoke put one on top of another, after cutting off the bottom.
Should look something like this, except for the wires …..
Now for the backpack……
1 and 2: electric terminals. 12 Volt is put on here when a push button on the assisting raygun is being pressed.
3: exhaust pipe. Some unimaginative people suggested this used to be part of an oil-lamp, wich I strongly oppose to.
4 and 5: the pellet holder with a little thingy to easely get it out off the exhaust.
The whole process is fairly simple: run 12 Volt through it, and off you go.
Tip: to have a failsave iginition, take some scrape off from matchheads and tape that in with the resistor….
The wires connect the igniter to a battery inside the backpack, as you will see later on.
Here are some igniters.
In fact these are 0.47 ohm resistors wich, running 12 Volts through them, burn up, and in the proces ignite the attached smoke-pellet.
Tip: don’t use too much tape on the pellets; it reduces the amount of smoke!
Here a picture of the exhaust charged and a picture of the bacpacks’ internal affairs. Visible: gelbattery, amplifier (for an Ipod) and speakers on the right.
